If on the other hand you shop locally, buying your main essentials at the market, drinking local Northern Cyprus wine and dining at the many excellent Turkish North Cyprus restaurants your cost of living will be impressively low! You can make a small income go a long way in North Cyprus without having to budget or restrict your lifestyle.

Northern Cyprus Supermarkets

There are many supermarkets both East and West of Kyrenia and more planned for the Esentepe/Tatlisu areas. All supermarkets, no matter how small accept payment with a credit card or cash (Turkish Lira OR Foreign Currency!). You can now find most brands of goods. They are open from about 8 am to 10 pm.

On Wednesday’s there is an open market in Kyrenia near the bus station. It's a good place for fresh fruit and vegetables, and you can also get good quality Towels, T shirts, shorts etc. Nicosia has a covered bazaar/market which is open everyday except Sundays. The cobbled streets are packed with material shops, souvenirs, clothes, sports clothing, bars and restaurants in North Cyprus. Both are certainly worth a visit.
