The local currency is Turkish Lire but all major currencies are accepted as are credit cards and travellers cheques. It is recommended you change your money in North Cyprus as you get a far better exchange rate than anywhere else in the world. No commission is charged for exchanging cash but a small percentage is charged for credit cards and traveller’s cheques. Most North Cyprus shopping outlets, restaurants, hotels, bars and supermarkets accept foreign currency and credit cards. Most major banks also have ATMs which also accept main credit and charge cards.
