Major Towns, Cities and Villages in
North Cyprus (TRNC)
Esentepe
Esentepe has become one of the fastest growing areas as visitors have flocked to establish their holiday homes close to the newly opened Championship Korineum Golf Course.
Esentepe translated means ‘windy hill’. Every area in Esentepe offers stunning views of the crystal clear Mediterranean Sea. The village itself has a primary and secondary school, doctor’s surgery, police station and a small selection of shops selling essential items. Apart from the aforementioned amenities the village is mainly home to a mix of welcoming Turkish Cypriots and European settlers who realised their dream of the perfect place in the sun by setting up home in Esentepe.
When you visit Esentepe you will be in awe of the stunning views the residents enjoy. The crystal clear Mediterranean Sea, fringed by the exquisite sandy Esentepe beach and, at the rear is the pine covered foothills of the Kyrenia mountain range.
Should you choose to have Esentepe as your home or indeed holiday base you can swim in the sea, laze on the sandy beach, enjoy an inexpensive Cypriot lunch at one of the village restaurants or wander into the forests behind the village.
If you really want to experience rural life venture further East to the Karpaz Peninsula.
Esentepe, over the last few years has grown in size and is now a village of note. This has mainly been due to the people who have visited, admired and decided to make Esentepe their home. Thankfully this has never detracted from the full beauty, and naturally rural feel of this coastal (retreat) nestling at the foot of the Kyrenia mountain range.
We mentioned earlier that the word Esentepe translats into windy hill, for the residents of Esentepe village this is a bonus. During the hot summer months Esentepe is a lovely location to be in, cooled by the breeze which rises from the Mediterranean that sprawls relaxed out in front.
Approach the village along its winding road, but make sure to take a few minutes and look back to enjoy some of the most stunning views. Crystal clear Mediterranean Sea added together with lovely long sandy beaches.
Travel a little further East and you will find the famous Antiphonitis Church. A 12th century church that is famous due to its shape and style of architecture, here frescoes adorn its pillars, walls and dome.
When you feel in need of relaxation visit the pretty village of Esentepe, the gateway to the Karpaz.
