Karakum

Karakum translates into ‘dark sand’ a small village with its own sandy bay just a mile from Girne – Kyrenia making it an easy walk into town.  Karakum however is conveniently located on a bus route.  Along the Karakum road are many small shops, which include grocery stores, beauty salon, gift shop, some furniture showrooms a garden centre and large supermarket.  Karakum is situated immediately east of the new Girne Shipping Harbour, a busy little village located close to many other popular beaches and ideally located to many other popular villages such as Bellapais, Ozankoy, Dogankoy, and Catalkoy.

This is an area of Northern Cyprus which is very popular with the English that have bought property in North Cyprus or are enjoying a Cyprus holiday, mainly due to its location close to Girne – Kyrenia. You will find many frequently visited restaurants and bars within the vicinity of Karakum.

Karsiyaka

West of Kyrenia you will find Karsiyaka.  This is a village that can offer stunning views of the Besparmak mountain range. There is a large, beautiful bay just a 5 minute drive away from the village.  Perched high up in the mountain is the famous and historical monastery.

Karsiyaka boasts good flat land along the coast stretching 2 to 3 miles from the sea to the steep Kyrenia mountain range. Its crystal clear sea and selection of secluded bays are stunning.  Karsiyaka is conveniently located with just a short drive to popular hotels, restaurants and bars.

A good majority of land around the area is relatively untouched; life in Karsiyaka continues just as it always has, no large hotels or holiday complex’s just a Cypriot village with its people going about their daily routines.
