Ozankoy

Situated just 3 miles East of Kyrenia - Girne, Ozankoy is one of the prettiest villages in Northern Cyprus and is home to a small but truly multi national population!

The residents of Ozankoy village, which was previously called Kazaphani, have been drawn by the attraction of the peace and tranquillity of Ozankoy’s setting, the beautiful and preserved natural environment around the village along with the friendly welcoming nature of the local Turkish Cypriot people.

Located on the edge of the Kyrenia mountain range, Ozankoy offers one of the best views of Bellapais Abbey especially at night when the Abbey is lit up.

An ancient crusader path joins the villages of Ozankoy and Bellapais. The path has some overgrowth in places making this a challenging climb. An alternative would be to wander up the narrow tarmac road to Bellapais. The higher you climb the more breathtaking the views become.

It really is worth spending time wandering around this pretty village with its narrow and ancient streets, beautifully preserved old houses, immaculate overflowing gardens as well as the fecund fruit and olive trees. So close to nature is this village it has attracted many foreign residents that now add to the theme with their own overflowing gardens.

Springtime is just one of the seasons where Ozankoy village is alive with pretty pink and white blossoms of almond trees, and winter the trees are packed full with citrus fruits. A truly stunning Cypriot village which has preserved its charm. Take a stroll around Ozankoy village and you will quickly appreciate the feeling of warmth and friendliness of its local Turkish Cypriot people.

Home to an 18th century church and a mosque makes Ozankoy another favoured tourist attraction.  The mosque still has original structures that date back to the Ottoman period and is proudly located in the centre of this pretty village.
